Black IPA

What is in a name? Sometimes called American Black Ale or Cascadian Dark Ale, this beer style is a hybrid between a Porter and an IPA – let’s say an India Black Ale… If you like hoppier porters or just want your IPA on the dark side you got it! The use of a caramel malts and dark roasted malt and hopping techniques used in IPA make these beers fruity, citrussy, floral with a herbal character from the hops an interesting experience! Although the style has been around since the early 20th Century it has been popularized in the 2000s and added as an official style since 2015.
