Trust the Germans to take a serious view on beer production! Not only did they improve the Pilsner style with a crisper, a little more bitter and more carbonation to produce a grassier and lighter mouthfeel lager – they slapped on the Reinheitsgebot beer purity laws to stop imports from competing with their breweries. When purity laws were dropped in the past two decades, creativity was allowed back through craft brewing.
